Quassel IRC est un client IRC distribué qui permet de se connecter à un serveur central, ce qui est assez pratique pour ceux qui veulent garder leur session active sur plusieurs appareils. Cependant, le site et le projet ne sont pas très connus, ce qui peut rendre la prise en main un peu plus difficile si vous n’êtes pas familier avec l'univers IRC. Contrairement à des alternatives comme mIRC ou HexChat, Quassel n'a pas une interface très accueillante pour les nouveaux utilisateurs, et il faut un certain temps pour comprendre comment ça fonctionne. De plus, le projet semble avoir des problèmes de visibilité, surtout après le changement de plateforme de Freenode à Libera Chat, ce qui a déstabilisé pas mal de ses utilisateurs. En termes de prix, c'est un logiciel gratuit et open source, donc pas de coûts cachés ici. Toutefois, il faut savoir qu'avec tout client IRC, il y a un risque d'addiction à la communauté, surtout si vous commencez à passer beaucoup de temps sur des canaux.
